Applications

Wherever a part must not fail, there is a signal to read.

One stack, many inspection problems. For every sector below, the same four layers, sensing, edge and embedded computing, intelligence, and automation, carry the measurement from the structure to the decision.

Sectors

The stack, applied.

Aerospace composite inspection

Composite airframes, bonded joints, radomes, and coatings hide barely visible impact damage: almost no surface trace, substantial strength loss. Paperwork is audited as hard as the part.

  • Sensing

THz, and ultrasound as it matures, interrogates the laminate layer by layer without ionizing radiation.

  • Edge / Embedded

Real-time acquisition and encoder synchronization run at the scanner, so every waveform lands where the part says it should.

  • Intelligence

Physics-informed AI detects and characterizes delamination, with size, depth, and confidence per indication.

  • Automation

Suspicious regions can eventually trigger adaptive rescanning or robotic reinspection before the part leaves the cell.

Energy infrastructure

Wind turbine blades, pipeline welds, pressure vessels, and nuclear components run on strict inspection schedules, and a missed defect can shut an asset down for weeks.

  • Sensing

Ultrasonic and guided-wave measurements reach the volumes and lengths that energy assets demand.

  • Edge / Embedded

Deterministic acquisition in the field, where cloud round-trips and post-hoc processing do not survive contact with a turbine platform.

  • Intelligence

Detection with confidence values, growth tracking between campaigns, and reports that satisfy regulators.

  • Automation

Decision support ranks indications now; adaptive reinspection of low-confidence regions is the roadmap.

Advanced manufacturing

Additive parts, castings, and welded assemblies carry porosity, inclusions, and lack-of-fusion defects that decide whether a batch ships or gets scrapped.

  • Sensing

Existing UT and CT data streams plug into the stack; no rip-and-replace of instruments.

  • Edge / Embedded

In-process measurement and local preprocessing keep pace with production rates.

  • Intelligence

Consistent defect calls across shifts and sites, statistics per batch and supplier, fewer good parts scrapped out of caution.

  • Automation

The destination is inspection that adapts sampling to what the process is doing, batch by batch.

Transportation

EV battery enclosures, lightweight composite bodies, adhesive bonds, and castings run at automotive rates, where manual evaluation of every scan cannot keep up.

  • Sensing

High-rate scanning of bonds, enclosures, and structural composites as vehicles get lighter and more bonded.

  • Edge / Embedded

Screening at line rate requires computing at the station, not in a queue.

  • Intelligence

The model clears the clear cases and flags the ambiguous ones for an expert, traceably.

  • Automation

Closed-loop gates that re-measure a flagged joint before it leaves the station are where this line of work leads.

Healthcare manufacturing

Medical device housings, tablet and film coatings, and packaging seals are regulated products where contamination or coating faults reach patients directly.

  • Sensing

Terahertz measures coating thickness and uniformity without contact or ionizing radiation.

  • Edge / Embedded

Inline measurement fits GMP lines only if it is deterministic and local.

  • Intelligence

Uniformity analysis and audit-ready reporting that matches GMP documentation culture.

  • Automation

Roadmap: coating lines that adjust based on what the measurement layer sees.

Civil infrastructure

Bridge decks, tendons, concrete covers, and FRP retrofits age in place, and inspection budgets force hard choices about what gets looked at and when.

  • Sensing

Guided waves and volumetric methods, as they join the stack, suit long spans and buried geometry.

  • Edge / Embedded

Field-deployable acquisition where connectivity is a luxury, not a given.

  • Intelligence

Severity and growth ranking so limited budgets go to the right structures first, with a defensible record.

  • Automation

Long term: monitoring that requests its own follow-up measurements when a trend turns.

Your sector not listed?

If your inspection produces data, the stack applies.

Tell us about your inspection problem, what you measure, what decision hangs on it, and where it hurts today, and we will say plainly which layers of the stack can help and which cannot yet.

See it on your data.

The fastest way to evaluate Sondera is a conversation about scans from your own parts. Composite materials and THz data get first priority through the pilot program.
